5 – Bagnolo – Selva Alta and return
Loop trail: Bagnolo, Sacagnino, Monte Trat, Bocca di Trat, Selva Alta, Bivio San Michele, Nizzola, Bagnolo
Description: the route leaves Bagnolo and winds along the Valle del Traversante (in Val Sabbia). At Guine you turn left towards Sacagnino, a wide meadow with three bird hunting snares. You continue towards the top of Trat, a semi-mountainous hill of the Trat-Selva Alta ridge. When on top, you have a view of Lake Garda. You descend to Bocca di Trat where you find a well-maintained bird snare. Turn right and at the junction for Selva Alta, take a left. From this point up to the top of Selva Alta the trail is very steep. From the top of Selva Alta (the name derives from the deep woods), continue descending by the Bocca di Selva Alta, where you encounter the trail called “Resistanza Bresciana Cristoforo Campanardi” or 289 CAI. Continue climbing upwards and at the first fork take a right for San Michele Colomber. Before reaching the Selva – Fontane junction turn right for Nizzola and at the Casa Cler fork continue towards Bagnolo. Environmental description:various types of mid-mountain features are present: meadows, humid woods, wildflowers, bird snares; historical border markers also present. Equipment: water, energy bars, lightweight pack with waterproof poncho, flashlight, trail map. CAI Trails: 216, ex 16 – 215B - 214 ex 14 – 217 ex 17 – 217 B ex 17 B. Length of time : 4 hours.
